Final Fantasy XIV has a weapon progression system that enables players to obtain a weapon at level 50 and upgrade it by completing quests, dungeons, raids, and other activities. There are three weapon upgrade tiers: relic, zodiac, and anima. Each tier has multiple stages. Players receive different weapons depending on their job. Paladins, for example, receive both a sword and shield. Weapons for different jobs also have different names. The quest that allows players to receive their first weapon is obtained at level 50 by following the main story quest line.
The first weapon has 80 item level. To upgrade it to level 90, players will have to defeat The Chimera 8 man trial, complete Amdapor Keep dungeon, kill certain beast men monsters found on the map, complete The Hydra trial, Bowl of Embers hard, and the Navel hard. Players will also need two grade III materias and 15 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics，maybe the ffxiv gil you also can get some. When all these tasks are completed players will get the level 90 relic weapon. To upgrade this weapon to zenith, players need three items that can be purchased in exchange for 20 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics each.
To obtain atma zodiac, the first stage of the zodiac weapon (item level 100), Final Fantasy XIV players will have to collect items that are part of the rewards for completing certain FATEs. The upgrade is called animus zodiac and requires 900 Tomestone of Poetics. The novus weapon, item level 110, is acquired after players spend 150 Tomestones of Poetics and get some more items from FATEs. This upgrade level also allows players to customize their weapon. The item level 115 weapon, nexus, is obtained by completing dungeons, FATEs, trials, and frontlines. For the braves upgrade (item level 125), players need around half a million gil, items from dungeons, crafted items, lots of company seals, and 1600 Tomestones of Poetics. The last stage of the zodiac weapons is called zeta and offers an item level 135 weapon. To get it, players need to complete dungeons and trials. For the anima weapons, players need to be level 60 but it’s not necessary to complete all the previous upgrade stages to start the anima quest.
