Recently it was possible to know (via GamesIndustry.biz) that FIFA 18, the EA title, was the best-selling physical release of the month of October in the United Kingdom. This news does not really come as a surprise, because year after year the soccer simulator continues to show its strong base of players, and the data from the past weeks made us think that a final result like this was more than likely.
Another notable fact is that according to reports, the physical sales of video games would have fallen by 16% compared to the same period of time during the past year. Apparently, the main reason that caused it lies in the difference in prices between the physical and digital versions of the games. The fall of 16% does not mean a lower sale of titles, but a greater acquisition of them in digital format, because on average the cost of these round the three pounds less.
It is also important to note that 52% of the total physical sales during the month of October in the United Kingdom were exclusively produced on PlayStation 4. This impressive figure is followed by 30% harvested by Xbox One while Nintendo Switch is located in 10%, the best result of the Nintendo console since last April. The remaining 8% is made up of all the other platforms still active by the rest of the companies.
So, in a month in which FIFA 18 has dominated in virtually every physical sales category in the United Kingdom, we finally leave you with the list showing the 20 best-selling releases in the time period from day 1 to October 28, with 10 new titles making their debut on a very exclusive list.
