Final Fantasy XIV – Shadowbringers Preview

The next chapter for Final Fantasy XIV was unveiled at the Fan Fest in Paris. Naoki Yoshida, the director and producer, took the stage dressed in a suit that revealed one of the biggest features of the expansion. A new job called Gunbreaker is being added. This new job will have a tanking role. It will not have a base class. The new expansion allows players to further increase their job levels to 80. As expected, new areas are being added to the game. Three areas were unveiled. The journey will take players to the Rak’Tika Greatwood, Amh Araeng, and Il Mheg. New main scenario quests will tell the story of the expansion. However, players will not be on their own. A new feature called the trust system will allow players to side with well-known game characters. Side quests will allow players to get Final Fantasy XIV gil, XP and to discover more of what’s going on in this new chapter.

New beast tribes will be available. Players will encounter pixies. It was revealed that pixies will have a language of their own just like dragons. Just like any other Final Fantasy XIV beast tribe, pixies have a Primal as well. Players will be once again asked to deal with Primals. One of the Primals is the leader of the pixies, Titania. There will be more trials in the expansion. Other beast tribes such as Nu Mou and dwarves were also revealed. Players will adventure into new dungeons where they will battle new enemies. There will also be eight-player raids that will test adventurers’ skills. One of the biggest reveals was a new alliance raid called YoRHA: Dark Apocalypse. This raid is actually a crossover with another Square Enix game, NieR: Automata. A new game system called new game+ will allow players to take a journey into the past and re-experience some of the old adventures. Shadowbringers will be available starting July 2nd. Pre-orders have already started. Those who buy the game in advance will be able to play a few days earlier.
